Martin Børsting: New record - 217,000 cubic metres!

„We don’t usually drive on grass in the summer, as our customers don’t want acidified slurry applied at that time. But this year, some places were so soft that they couldn’t drive a slurry tanker, so we had to bring in the SDS 8000 applicator,“ says Christian Fruergaard, a driver at contractor Martin Børsting.

So far, it’s taken 1,700 hours to apply the 217,000 cubic meters. According to Christian Fruergaard, when considering only the time the pump was running, they applied an average of 175 tons per hour.

„You need people who are willing to do this kind of work for it to be possible. It’s not always easy to find people who are motivated and don’t mind going out to connect a hose every now and then,“ says Christian Fruergaard.

A total of 746,000 cubic meters have been applied over the past four years since contractor Martin Børsting first started using this applicator. Of course, there are always minor challenges.

And minor challenges is exactly what they’ve been, as this spring, Christian Fruergaard reports that they only had 12 hours of downtime in total due to small issues. On the other hand, the machine was able to spend up to 900 hours in the field before seeing the machine shed again.

„We updated the machine with the new screen this year, so it’s actually fully up-to-date like the new models. Agrometer deserves credit for that; they’re good at listening and making the adjustments we request. The screen was one of the things we wanted to see changed when we first bought the machine,“ says Christian Fruergaard.
